CWC0017
Coastal British Columbia is home to one quarter of the remaining temperate rainforest on Earth. These forests are home to some of the world’s largest Western Red Cedar, Douglas- fir and Sitka Spruce trees. Close to the ocean, the forests stay lush and vibrant all year long. As their name suggests, BC’s coastal rainforests receive an astounding amount of annual precipitation, with almost all of it falling as rain. In excess of 6650 mm (260 in) of rain can fall in one year. Natural disturbances, such as fires, rarely occur, allowing the forests and ecosystems to achieve a great age, with some trees exceeding 1000 years. NOTE: This card is blank inside.
